Big news has come out regarding Aadhaar card. It has been reported that 60 percent of Aadhaar cards in the country may be locked. After this, you will not be able to use it anywhere. Are you not included in this Aadhaar card! Currently, everything from opening a bank account to getting a driving license requires an Aadhaar number. So, you should be careful on time and complete the Aadhaar related formalities as soon as possible.
According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), those whose Aadhaar cards are old and have not visited the Aadhaar Seva Kendra even once for Aadhaar change should immediately visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra and undergo KYC. Nishu Shukla, in-charge of NCR's largest Aadhaar service centre, Ghaziabad, says there are a large number of people whose address, mobile number or anything else has not changed after generating an Aadhaar card. KYC of such Aadhaar card holders is not done. If not, the Aadhaar card will be locked.
Whose Aadhaar card will be locked?
According to Aadhaar centers, there are still around 60 percent of Aadhaar whose KYC is not done yet. Most of them are from rural areas. If these people do not get KYC done on time, Aadhaar will be locked. Most people living in cities must have revised their Aadhaar once due to transfer or some other reason.
KYC is required for Aadhaar cards older than eight to 10 years. During this period, if a person has gone abroad, whenever he returns, he has to undergo KYC first, only after that he can use Aadhaar anywhere. If someone dies during this period, his aadhaar will not be used, as it will not be biometric. So UIDAI has no rules regarding this.
How to Update aadharcard or KYC ?
UIDAI Aadhaar Seva Kendras have opened in major cities across the country. KYC can be done by going there after getting the information. KYC fee is Rs 50. Card holder has to bring two items like PAN card, voter card or electricity bill, copy of registry, passport etc. For example, if a person's Aadhaar card belongs to another state and he currently resides in another city, but wants his Aadhaar address to remain the same, he can get it updated by submitting old address proofs. Aadhaar KYC can also be done at banks and post offices, but there are 10 to 15 appointments per day. So, the best way to get KYC done is to visit UIDAI's Aadhaar Seva Kendra
