According to sources, INSACOG is sensitive to the rising cases of Corona and can deal with new types of cases if they come up. According to INSACOG, a total of 34 cases of KP.1 infection have been reported in seven states and Union Territories of the country. Out of which 23 cases were reported in West Bengal alone. Along with this, one case each of this infection has been reported in Goa, Haryana and Uttarakhand. While 2 cases each have been found in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
A total of four cases of this infection have been reported in Maharashtra. While out of total 290 cases of KP.2 sub-variant in the country, highest 148 cases have been observed in Maharashtra alone. Apart from this, one such case has been reported in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. While 12 people in Goa, 23 in Gujarat and three in Haryana have been infected with this type. On the other hand four people in Karnataka, 17 in Odisha, 21 in Rajasthan and eight in Uttar Pradesh are affected by this infection. While 16 and 36 people have been infected with this subtype in Uttarakhand and West Bengal respectively. Let us tell you that recently, a wave of Kovid-19 is being seen in Singapore. A total of 25,900 cases of KP.1 and KP.2 sub-variant infections have been reported in the country between May 5 and 11 this month.

The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) is a national multi-agency consortium of genome sequencing laboratories established by the Government of India on 30 December 2020. Initially 10 laboratories were included in this consortium. After this the scope of laboratories was expanded under INSACOG. At present there are 28 laboratories under this consortium. whose task is to monitor genomic variations in SARS-CoV-2.
