Dwarkadhish Temple or Jagat Mandir or Dwarkadhish is a Hindu temple dedicated
to Lord Krishna. Sri Krishna is worshiped here as Dwarkadhish or 'King of
Dwarka'. The temple is located at Dwarka, Gujarat, which is one of the Hindu
pilgrimage sites known as Chardham. This seven-storey temple is built on 60

follows the guidelines and rituals created by Vallabhacharya and
Vitthaleshnath.
According to tradition it is believed that the original temple was built on

demolished by Mahmud Begda in 1472, and then rebuilt in the 15th-16th
centuries. The temple is part of the Chardham pilgrimage, considered sacred by

philosopher, visited this temple. The other three places were Rameswaram,

the sacred text called Divya Prabandha. It was built by Raja Jagat Singh
Rathore. The temple is 12.19 meters high and has a gate facing west. The
temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum and a sanctum sanctorum. It is
estimated that this temple site is 2,500 years old where Krishna built his
city and a temple. However, the present temple dates back to the 16th century.
Hindus believe that the original temple to Krishna was built above Krishna's
palace by Krishna's great-grandson Vrajnabha. It was destroyed in 1472 by
Sultan Muhammad Begda. The present temple was built in the Chaulukya style
during the 15th-16th centuries. The temple is situated on a plot measuring
27-meters in length and 21-meters in width. It has an east-west length of
29-meters and a north-south width of 23 meters. The highest peak of the temple
is 51.8 meters.
There are many things related to this temple like after hearing the praise
of Lord Krishna everywhere, Rukmini had decided to marry him in her mind.
And she wrote a letter with seven verses to Lord Krishna expressing her
feelings. This letter is read in front of Rukmini Devi every day. The most
important festival celebrated in Dwarkadhish temple is Janmashtami. Apart
from this, the marriage of Lord Krishna and Rukmini is also celebrated here

Once upon a time Lord Krishna and his wife Rukmini went to meet Sage Durva.
Rukmini invited them to her palace. The Russian ambassador accepted the
invitation on one condition that the chariot in which they would come to the
palace would be pulled by Lord Krishna and Rukmini. Sage Rukmini accepted
this condition without any hesitation. The men set out for the palace with
Lord Krishna and Rukmini. As per the condition, Lord Krishna and Rukmini
started pulling the chariot in which the famous Durva grass was sitting.
After coming some distance, Rukmini got tired of pulling the chariot and
felt very thirsty. Lord Krishna understood this and then he made a hole in
the ground with his toe from which the water of Maa Ganga came out and
Rukmini quenched her thirst with that water. But Sage Durvasa did not like
the fact that Rukmini did not request him before drinking the water herself.
And because of her misbehavior, he cursed Rukmini that she and Shri Krishna
will be separated. And that is why Rukmini's temple is at some distance from
Lord Shri Krishna's temple.
